Alicia Hanks, age 71, a resident of Auburn, AL, passed away, at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 7, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date.
Ms. Hanks was born on December 22, 1952, to the late George W. Hanks and Virginia “Juanita” Greenwood Hanks in Greenville, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings George “Richard” Hanks, Susan Hanks Curry, and Virginia “Beth” Hanks Houston York, nieces, Dama Hanks Darby (Randy) and Stephanie Hanks and nephew, Jefferson James “J.J.” Houston (Brie).
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hanks, sisters Adalia Hanks (Don) and Cindy Hanks Clem (Frank) and brother, David Hanks, Sr. (Janet), nieces, Freida “Fre” Luster-Barregarye (Rick), Amanda Curry Finkhousen (Jeff), Cherry “Neky” McIntyre and nephews, Brian Curry (Pam), David Hanks, Jr. (Sandra), Steve Hanks, and Gary Hanks (Kayla), Clyde Luster, III, Danny Luster (Spring), Phil Patterson, her former husband and a devoted friend and companion, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
Ms. Hanks loved her family, most especially her daughter, Amy, of whom she was most proud. She was a twin to Adalia, her best friend, with whom lots of laughter and good times were shared. She loved flowers and had a green thumb. She was an animal lover. Her cats (Birdie Blackie, Buddy, George, Henry, Izzy, Jazzy, and Oscar) were very special to her. She is loved and will be greatly missed by all that were lucky enough to have known her.
