James Ford Allen Jr., known as Jimmy Fred by all, was a life time resident of Opelika, passed away on April 17th at the age of 73. Jimmy was born on April 29th, 1950 at Bonner Hospital in Roanoke, Alabama. He was the son of James Ford Allen and Clorea Murphy Allen.
Jimmy graduated from Opelika High School in 1968 and from Auburn University with a degree in Textile Engineering in 1973. Most of his career was spent in human resources at West Point Pepperell, Master Lock and retired from Weidmann Plastics.
On August 26, 1978 he married Patricia (Patty) Blanton Allen. They had two sons, Douglas Bradley Allen and James Patrick Allen.
He was a wonderful and accountable person to his friends and this especially held true for family, his wife, kids, daughter-in-law and grandkids.
He took great pride in his yardwork and garden. For a time, Jimmy was an avid golfer. Indian Pines was like his second home. He loved watching sports which were nearly always on the tv.
But his true passion was his family. He loved and would do anything for his wife, sons, and daughter-in-law. After being blessed with three grandboys, Jackson, Houston, and Parker; they brought him his greatest joy.
He is preceded in death by Mr and Mrs James Ford Allen (parents) Mr. Willie B Davis, Jr. and Mrs Jennie Bell Davis, (foster parents).
He is survived by spouse, Patricia Blanton Allen “Patty”; Sons Douglas Bradley Allen “Brad” and James Patrick Allen “Patrick”; daughter-in-law, Hillary Anne Allen; grandsons: Jackson Ford Allen, James Houston Allen, John Parker Allen; brothers: William Derek Davis and Nicholas Alan Davis (Susan); sister, Jean Jones (Wayne); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Allen family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Spencer Cancer Center as well as the staff at Compassus for the genuine care provided to Jimmy throughout his duration of care.
